July 30, 2013

New Orleans is perhaps one the best known cities in the country for it's delicious cuisine and talented chefs. But that doesn't mean that the region isn't open to other cooking professionals coming to the Big Easy to showcase their skills, which is what will happen at this year's Great American Seafood Cook-Off taking place on August 3rd.

One local chef will be traveling to the southern city to participate in the competition and highlight the Boston hospitality industry, the Boston Globe reported. Paul Turano, who owns Allston restaurant Tryst, will try his hand at creating delectable seafood dishes for the judges and attendees. The news source explained that Turano was nominated by Governor Deval Patrick to represent the state of Massachusetts at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off. He plans to whip up some of the best New England seafood dishes, including fresh lobster, clam chowder and haddock.

"My game plan is to just cook everything properly, present it on a really nice plate, and showcase New England seafood," Turano told the source.

The Great American Seafood Cook-Off is in its 10th year, and this week's competition will feature 15 chefs from around the nation, all of whom were nominated by the governors in their respective states.

Whether it is for owner-operated businesses or established franchises, Boston accounting firms can provide valuable financial services to the industry.
